Noriswadi Ismail (Noris Ismail), is an author, thought leader and experienced consulting practitioner in global data protection and privacy, data governance, data ethics, cybersecurity and emerging technologies' risks. Noris served as IAPP European Advisory Board Member (1/1/2022-31/12/2023), and serves as IAPP Diversity in Privacy Section Advisory Board Member (2024-2025). 

 

He is extremely passionate in diversity, inclusion and belonging and has been 'informally' mentoring/coaching future leaders in this evolving space. As IIUM (Malaysia), AOTS (Japan), Strathclyde, Scotland, Chevening (U.K), Fulbright (U.S), Big4 (EY) and Oxford Saïd Business School, University of Oxford alumni, Noris has clocked and delivered more than 180,000 hours of consulting, masterclass, webinars, workshops, conferences, strategic whiteboarding business case and scenario planning sessions (face-to-face, remotely and hybrid) for Board of Directors (Independent and Non-Independent), C-Suite, Regulators, Fortune 500, FTSE 100, FTSE 250, Middle-Management, Middle-Market firms, Start Ups and Freelance Digital Entrepreneurs globally. 

 

He has written and edited 2 books; Beyond Data Protection, Strategic Case Studies and Practical Guidance (Springer, 2013); Understanding Personal Data Protection Law (LexisNexis, 2013), contributed as one of the Subject Matter Experts in 2 leading Blue Papers: Global Data Transfer (Gold Rush Publishing, 2019) and Data Breach Accountability Framework (Gold Rush Publishing, 2021). Noris is the former International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Inaugural Asia Advisory Board (2015-2017) and former Scientific Director of European Privacy Association (2015-2017). 

 

Noris lives in London, England. He loves hiking, long walks, running, camping, cooking, movies, gardening and travelling. He is a strong strategic ally on Pro-Bono initiatives that are dearly to his heart and mind: diversity, inclusion and belonging, mental health and mindfulness, entrepreneurship, children, cancer research, natural world, culture and heritage of SouthEast Asia Archipelago (particularly, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei). On 4 October 2020 (during the U.K COVID-19 lockdown), Noris completed a remote marathon in 24 hours and was one of the 37,966 virtual Virgin London Marathon worldwide runners who achieved Guinness World Records. He ran and raised funds for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Noris is a Mentor for Migrant Leaders.
